Place to Eat in Siem Reap Siem Reap is a food-lover's delight, offering an array of dining venues and cuisines from Asia and the West. It’s easy to sample many types of Cambodian food, from traditional dishes like amok and lok-lak to adventurous contemporary fare.

Siem Reap to/from Phnom Penh Air travel from Phnom Penh

Cambodia Angkor Air and Cambodia Bayon Airlines offer several daily flights between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. (See Domestic Flights on page 80.) Road travel from Phnom Penh Bus: Bus travel is the most popular means of overland transport to Siem Reap. The road is paved and smooth and there are several regularly scheduled daily buses, taking 6 hours to make the trip for $6 on a standard bus, and up to $12/pax on a deluxe bus from companies such as Giant Ibis and Mekong Express, offering better facilities and a safer ride. At least a couple of bus companies, including Giant Ibis, are running night buses to Siem Reap. See Bus Companies and Bus Schedule on pages 78-79. River ferries from Phnom Penh River ferries between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap on the Tonle Sap used to be the most popular means of travel. These days the local ferry is less popular, running part of the year (August - March), but higher quality slow boats have gained popularity with outfits like Compagnie Fluevial Du Mekong and Tara Boat running regular trips (see below.) When running, the local ferries depart 7:30AM from the Phnom Penh Port on Sisowath Quay and in Siem Reap, the docks at Chong Khneas, 15km south of town. Tickets and can be purchased through hotels or travel agents.
